084 | Berthoud Pass, Colorado

During the middle part of the week, emails were buzzing around with interest across the board to get after whatever snow remained at Berthoud Pass. Saturday was the chosen day, and the group was initially 11 people deep. Alcohol, women, and injuries at Vail on an amazing powder day caused a few people to drop, but those that managed to hang around found some snow.

That's Chris pictured above shortly before 8am in the area called the 90's. We were the first group up that area today and the snow did not suck.

On my second lap, I joined Sam for a run down the west face. Snow here was a bit sketchy as there were plenty of barely-covered rocks that I hit. To feel super comfortable skiing in this location, we would need another eighteen inches. Regardless, Sam sure had fun throwing his body off a rock:

Soon after, Jeremy showed up and I joined him for a lap in the area called the Pumphouse. We skied down a SE aspect and interestingly enough, the snow here was the best of the day. As you can see below, Jeremy didn't have fun at all:

To further prove how bad the snow was, here's Sam's helmet camera footage:

Tom, I'm surprised that you actually got a comment. Is that the 2nd comment out of 100+ postings?
